Part-time, permanent role commencing as soon as possible
We are seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join our community on a part‐time basis. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this newly established role is responsible for the continuous improvement of health and safety practices across the School.
The Senior Health & Safety Advisor will provide expert advice and practical leadership across all aspects of work health and safety, including risk management, incident management, emergency response, training, and compliance with WHS legislation and Codes of Practice.
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Director of Human Resources, Facilities, and senior leaders, you will ensure health and safety systems are effective, contemporary, and embedded across the School.
This is a part-time role, working 22.5 hours per week. The exact days of work and start/finish times are flexible and will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Overview
Senior Health & Safety Advisor responsible for leading WHS practices, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and driving continuous improvement across the School on a part‐time basis.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and coordinate the implementation, monitoring and development of the School's Work Health and Safety Management System, working with the Director of Human Resources to develop strategy.
* Leading and coordinating formal risk assessment processes, including hazard identification, risk evaluation, and control review.
* Review, update and develop Health & Safety Policy and Procedures, identifying areas of risk and recommendations for improvement.
* Chair, oversee and coordinate the operations of the WHS working group; liaise with group members to identify and recommend areas for ongoing improvement in their area of influence.
* Maintain, update and manage emergency response plans and evacuation procedures, ensuring adherence to our legal requirements and child safe obligations.
* Manage and investigate any significant health and safety incident, risk, 'near miss' or identified hazard in the workplace and work with colleagues to ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
About You
* Tertiary qualification in a Health & Safety or related discipline.
* Relevant experience in a similar Health & Safety role.
* Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and Codes of Practice, with the ability to interpret, implement, and adapt legislative and Code requirements into practical workplace controls.
* Possesses a positive outlook, exceptional interpersonal skills, and high emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to build authentic, collaborative and productive relationships.
* Knowledge and understanding of Child Safety standards relevant to WHS (desirable).
* Hold current Working with Children Check.
* Hold a current police clearance dated within the last 6 months.
* Proof of Right to Work in Australia.
