What you will do as the Payroll Manager
Responsibilities
As our Payroll Manager, working under limited direction you will be responsible for a range of critical functions some of which include:
* leading a small team in the provision of customer focused payroll services
* developing, implementing and monitoring the systems, processes, standard operating procedures and controls that facilitate the accurate and on time delivery of the pay
* working collaboratively with colleagues from our outsourced payroll provider, managing the contract and ensuring service levels are adhered to. This includes ensuring the ACCC/AER meets its obligations to the outsourced payroll provider
* coordinating and checking the fortnightly pay run process whilst ensuring compliance with payroll process and relevant APS legislative requirements.
About You
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
* at least 5 years' experience processing payroll through a payroll software solution (Aurion desirable)
* demonstrated ability to apply best practice payroll processes and controls as well as work with detail and resolve complex and/or sensitive payroll issues
* demonstrated ability to comply with APS payroll requirements and relevant legislation
* demonstrated ability to effectively lead a small team including instilling best practice and building ongoing capability.
As a Payroll Manager (EL1), You Will Also
* consider the ramifications of issues and longer-term impact of own work and function on the agency
* consciously build, coach and empower your team to deliver consistently high quality payroll services and advice to the agency
* maintain an awareness of the organisation, monitoring the context in which the organisation operates and finding out about best practice approaches
* recognise the links between interconnected issues.

Salary: APS6 $99,562 - $111,590 / EL1 $123,702 - $136,900 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
