E&I Maintenance Electricians – BSL Metal Products Team
Join Rio Tinto's BSL Metal Products Team as an Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Electrician. You will support our clean delivery process at the Boyne Smelter on a 9‑day fortnight roster, with potential lifestyle shift coverage.
Responsibilities
* Compliance of gas appliances.
* Planned maintenance including gas & electric furnaces, casting machines, PLC, instrumentation and other plant equipment.
* Mobile plant maintenance including autonomous forklift equipment.
* Execution of planned and unplanned breakdown maintenance.
* Troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing and servicing fixed plant electrical assets.
* Working at heights activities.
* Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team while ensuring equipment is safe and reliable.
* Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives, often in collaboration with multiple disciplines.
* Promoting and identifying HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours.
* Execution of defined primary and secondary scopes from SAP (CMMS).
Qualifications
* A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
* Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset.
* Valid C‑Class driver's licence.
* An Australian A‑grade electrical licence.
* Instrumentation certificate advantageous.
* Licence/experience in Type B gas appliances advantageous.
* Working at heights/EWP/ confined space desirable.
* Experience in planned maintenance including PLC, instrumentation, gas/electric furnaces, casting machines and other plant equipment.
* Proven history of fault‑finding and repairs on various electrical equipment.
* Proven maintenance experience in a heavy/industrial environment.

Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia's second‑largest aluminium smelter, operating 1,000 staff. It is located approximately 20 km southeast of Gladstone on Boyne Island, Central Queensland, producing around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
