We are seeking an experienced Horse Trainer to join our team on a full-time basis at Warwick Farm NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for riding and training horses, as well as educating young horses and managing a team of staff under the direction of the head trainer.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification and 2 years full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing. They must also have proven ability to train and educate young horses, excellent horsemanship skills, and strong oral and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Ride and train 8-10 horses per morning with emphasis on pace work and jump outs
* Educate young horses on the ground and manage a team of horses and staff
* Provide instruction and information to colleagues and management
* Maintain accurate records and reports
* Contribute to a safe working environment by following health and safety protocols
Requirements
* A relevant qualification in horse training and handling methods or equivalent international qualification
* 2 years full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
* Proven ability to train and educate young horses
* Excellent horsemanship skills and strong oral and written communication skills
* Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment relevant to a racing business
* Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
* Prior experience as a team leader or manager is desirable
