Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
About the role
The Salvation Army is seeking a suitably qualified teacher's aide to work as part of a collaborative teaching team, which is committed to supporting students to achieve their personal best. The teacher's aide will work closely and co-operatively with teaching staff, to provide support for student learning in; classroom, small group, and one-to-one settings, to enhance the learning outcomes of students.
You will successfully
- Provide learning support for students in classroom, small group, and one-to-one settings class, under the direction of the classroom teacher years 7-12* (*dependent on individual school needs).
- Foster a growth mindset within students.
- Monitors, models and encourages appropriate social and emotional learning, and develops positive behaviour plans.
- Maintains appropriate school records in line with TSA procedures and Government legislation.
- Contributes to and participates in appropriate training and professional development activities including regular supervision.
- Additional duties as determined by the Manager of Student Learning/Principal.
This is a part-time (30hrs per week), permanent position located in Lawnton, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Educational Services General Staff Award.
You will have
- Teacher Aide Qualifications. E.g. Certificate III in Education Support or Certificate IV in Education Support or other relevant qualification.
- Experience supporting students who have been disengaged from mainstream school and the ability to re-engage and motivate students into educational/ training pathways.
- An understanding of the effects of trauma on young people.
- Experience in working with students in years 7-12* (*dependent on individual school needs).
- Experience working in collaborative teams.
- Experience in supporting and working with vulnerable families
- Salary is based on award rates and dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful applicant. Days and hours will be dependent on school needs during term time only, with stand-down during term breaks.
- Current WWCC Qld (blue Card) or the ability to obtain one.
- A national police record check is required.
