At Cowal, our work has extended the mine life to 2040. Located near West Wyalong in central Recent South Wales, Cowal is a residential site where we encourage living nearby and enjoying the close-knit communities.

This roster is 8 days on, 6 days off, with 12-hour days. Flexible work options are available and discussed with the team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, field-focused opportunity to join Evolution Mining’s Cowal team as a Survey Technician (Open Pit). Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, you’ll be part of a well-established technical services crew that values precision, collaboration, and continuous learning.
What sets this role apart? You’ll be trained in Deswik, Agisoft, and drone operations; no prior experience required. You’ll spend around 80% of your time in the field, contributing directly to daily mine operations through mark-outs, monitoring, and data collection that keeps everything running smoothly.

About You / Qualifications
You’re outdoors-oriented, enjoy practical work, and are ready to grow your technical skills in a mining environment. Whether you come from a surveying background, civil construction, or operate machinery with a tech mindset, your attitude and willingness to learn matter most.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in open pit mining, surveying, or a related technical field
- A manual driver’s licence and the physical ability to work in rugged terrain
- Basic computer skills and an interest in learning Deswik, Agisoft, and drone mapping
- A collaborative mindset and a desire to contribute to a high-performing team
