Overview
We're looking for an experienced Mainframe DB2 Application Administrator / DBA to join our team at Leidos. You'll be responsible for managing and optimizing DB2 for z/OS environments, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability across mission-critical systems. This role involves close collaboration with application development teams, automation of operational tasks, and implementation of robust backup and recovery strategies. You'll also play a key role in maintaining data integrity, enforcing security protocols, and supporting application deployments.

Responsibilities
Administer and support DB2 for z/OS environments, focusing on application performance, reliability, and regular database health checks and maintenance.
Create and manage database objects (e.g. tablespaces, tables, indexes, packages) and run DB2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, RUNSTATS) for physical maintenance.
Collaborate with developers to optimise SQL queries and indexing strategies, perform performance tuning, and ensure data integrity best practices are upheld.
Automate tasks using JCL, REXX, COBOL, and Python; deploy application releases and troubleshoot related issues.
Monitor tablespace capacity, implement RACF-based security protocols, manage backup and disaster recovery procedures, and maintain technical documentation.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a DB2 DBA in enterprise mainframe environments, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
IBM Certified Database Associate or equivalent DB2 for z/OS certification; additional certifications or publications are a plus.
Skilled in RACF security management and cross-platform integration (Unix/Windows).
Strong scripting abilities in REXX, JCL, and Python.
Willing to provide on-call and after-hours support as required.
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen, hold a Baseline level security clearance.
