The Team
McCullough Robertson's Planning and Environment team is composed of approachable, down‐to‐earth specialists who enjoy working together and solving complex problems for clients. The team excels at identifying and resolving regulatory, legal, and environmental challenges across a range of areas, including town planning legal issues, development approvals and appeals, environmental impacts and compliance, infrastructure agreements, regulatory compliance, resumption and compensation, due diligence, land access and tenure, environmental defence, and executive officer liability.
The Role
As a highly motivated lawyer, you will join the Planning and Environment team and have the opportunity to grow your legal career alongside highly regarded partners and an excellent team of lawyers.
Your client portfolio will include State and Local governments, developers, industry, property owners, funds, corporate groups, renewables companies, builders and financiers. The role offers broad exposure to appeals and enforcement proceedings in the Planning and Environment Court, advising on planning, environmental and building matters, drafting and negotiating infrastructure agreements, and advising on governance, rating issues for local governments and health prosecutions. You will also provide strategic advice on infrastructure planning, charges and agreements, environmental compliance, water and land use rights and approval requirements.
Experience
We are looking for a self‐driven and enthusiastic lawyer with two to three years of public and environmental law experience. You should possess strong technical expertise, a solid grasp of your area of specialisation, and a client‐centred approach. A supportive and collaborative team environment is essential, and you should thrive on building meaningful relationships with colleagues. A keen interest in building a specialist career in the Planning and Environment space and a commitment to professional growth are also required.
