We are seeking a skilled Retail Credit Team Leader to oversee contract settlement activities, guide team performance and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the assessment of Retail Credit applications in accordance with our credit policies and procedures, the Credit Rules and all relevant Australian legal and legislative requirements. You will ensure that strong credit quality is upheld in every assessment and that organisational risk is appropriately mitigated.
You will maintain and develop strong relationships across the Retail network, ensuring superior service is consistently delivered while supporting the broader Sales strategy to achieve the projected operating plan without compromising risk appetite. In addition, you will play a key role in workflow management, including work‑shopping credit applications to enable sound decision‑making.
You will contribute to capability uplift by coaching and supporting team members, including providing regular one‑on‑one development and performance feedback to drive consistency, strong decisioning and high‑quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment & Decisioning
* Prepare, assess and approve credit submissions within Credit Approval Limits (CAL).
* Conduct detailed financial analysis including balance sheets, profit and loss statements and cash flow.
* Ensure all credit decisions meet policy, regulatory and high credit‑quality standards.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
* Liaise with internal and external customers to deliver superior service to the Retail network.
* Negotiate credit decisions to support timely and responsible motor vehicle financing.
Performance & KPI Delivery
* Meet required KPIs through efficient processing and high‑quality assessment.
Leadership Support & Workflow Oversight
* Provide relief for the Manager during absences, managing escalations and supporting team operations.
* Oversee team workflow during peak periods to ensure adequate coverage.
* Work‑shop applications with Business Managers and team members to guide quality outcomes.
Administration & Project Support
* Complete general administrative tasks and contribute to business projects, including strategic company initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
* Conduct monthly one‑on‑one coaching and performance feedback sessions.
* Support knowledge sharing and capability uplift within the team.
* Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high‑performance culture.
About You
You will bring:
* Demonstrated experience in motor vehicle finance, with strong credit analysis capability across PC, LCV and HCV segments.
* Strong understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow), business operations, credit assessment, risk mitigation and relevant regulations including NCCP and AFCA obligations.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with proven ability to negotiate, problem-solve, and deliver superior customer service.
* High attention to detail, ability to perform under pressure, and strong professional presentation and conduct.
* Collaborative team player with a committed, proactive attitude and strong ability to interpret market conditions.
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Economics, or Banking & Finance desirable.
