We are seeking candidates interested in becoming Rail Protection Officers to join our team across the Riverina region. While previous rail experience is not mandatory, this is a high-risk role requiring candidates who are safety-conscious, alert, and able to work long hours in weather conditions if required. Full training will be provided for the right candidates (at a cost), with the opportunity to gain formal qualifications over time.
The Role
You will support safe rail operations, assist work groups on site, and implement safe working requirements under the guidance of experienced Protection and Safeworking Officers. Attention to detail, situational awareness, and a strong safety mindset are critical.
Protection & Safeworking Officer Pathway (Training Provided)
* PO1 - Lookout / Handsignal Operator
* PO2 - Worksite Protection
* PO3 - Track Force Protection Coordinator / Absolute Occupancy
* PO4 - Complex Worksite / Network-Level Coordination
* Safeworking Officer Level 1 & Level 2
What We're Looking For
* Safety-conscious, alert, and able to maintain focus in high-risk environments
* Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
* Willingness to learn and develop skills to become a qualified Protection or Safeworking Officer
* MUST be based in the Riverina Region
* Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card
* Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Category 1 Rail Medical
* Ability to pass daily drug & alcohol screens while on site
* Ability to work long hours and in harsh site conditions
* Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
