Community Mental Health Professional

We are seeking a skilled Community Mental Health Professional to join our multidisciplinary team. This role will involve providing focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing our service within a community-based mental health care setting.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualized psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach.

In addition, they will work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession-specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies.

Our Service

Safe Space is a fantastic program that provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department for low-risk individuals, and access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting.

* This opportunity is based in Caboolture, QLD.
* Part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term position until 30/11/2025.
* Paying on HPSS Level 3 (above award payment for highly experienced clinicians) plus Super.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planning.
2. Work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualized psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach.
3. Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession-specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies.


Requirements

* Must have one of the following: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
* Demonstrated a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise and skill; specifically, Brief Intervention Models of Care Commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment.
* Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planning.
* Solid understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting.
* Ideally demonstrated experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and support.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness.
* Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team.
* Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks.
* Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
* Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card.
* Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.
