About the role: As a Police Cadet, you’ll undertake 9 months full-time paid training at the SAPOL Academy in Taperoo (Adelaide). Training combines classroom-based study with physical, practical and scenario-based learning, covering studies in law, policy and procedure. You’ll learn to respond to a range of real-world situations. This training will prepare you for a dynamic policing career where every day is different. Once you graduate, you’ll work as a Probationary Constable and be deployed to an operational team. Your work may include: Conducting mobile patrols and responding to emergency calls. Investigating accidents, crimes, minor offences and public complaints, gathering evidence and investigating, arresting and interviewing suspects. Engaging with community members at events. Attending court. Managing traffic and road safety operations. Providing advice and assistance to victims of crime and their families. Maintaining records and preparing reports. Working closely with other policing sections and partner agencies to keep the community safe. As you gain experience, you’ll have access to ongoing training and a wide range of specialist pathways, including roles in investigations, dog operations, major crash, community engagement, road safety, prosecution, forensics, cybercrime and more.
