We are seeking an experienced
Adabas Database Administrator
to join a high-performing technology team responsible for the stability, performance, and optimisation of critical database environments. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Adabas administration, system tuning, and disaster recovery, who enjoys working in a collaborative, enterprise-scale environment. The client will also consider candidates who have experience in Adabas development work with natural.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain, monitor, and optimise Adabas database environments to ensure high availability and performance
* Perform routine database maintenance, including backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures
* Plan and implement upgrades and maintenance of
Adabas, Natural
, and all related Software AG and third-party products in line with vendor-supported levels
* Apply patches and emergency fixes to maintain database stability and security
* Conduct database performance tuning and optimisation activities
* Utilise database utilities and third-party tools for monitoring and management
* Support and participate in disaster recovery exercises, ensuring database recoverability
* Collaborate closely with Mainframe Systems Programmers to resolve performance and operational issues
* Provide 24/7 on-call support as required and maintain detailed technical documentation
Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
* Minimum
5+ years' experience
as an Adabas Database Administrator
* Strong understanding of Adabas database structures, utilities, and performance tuning techniques
* Proven experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning for Adabas
* Familiarity with third-party database management and monitoring tools
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Ability to pass background checks in line with organisational requirements
