Job Description
The Senior Gym Officer plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of UniActive Gym – Innovation Campus, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience for all UOW Pulse customers. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on member engagement, customer service excellence, and growing strong gym communities.
You will be a key point of contact for members, delivering tours, supporting membership enquiries, promoting programs and services, and guiding customers on safe and effective exercise practices. The role also supports the Member Services Officer in promotional and programming initiatives specific to UniActive – Innovation Campus.

Responsibilities
Foster team spirit and work collaboratively with the Health and Fitness team to ensure quality service and safety.
Deliver exceptional customer service in a culturally diverse environment.
Attend to Member enquiries either verbally or written in expected timeframes.
Always exhibit professionalism and effective communication.
Qualifications
Qualifications: A current Certificate III or IV in Fitness with active registration through AUSACTIVE or other registered Fitness Body is highly desired.
Certifications: First Aid, CPR, Working With Children Check – Worker.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a health and fitness organization, demonstrating hands‐on expertise in the industry, proven ability to meet the demands of members in a busy gym environment.
Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated high‐level customer service, outstanding verbal and written communication, building strong and positive rapport with clients and colleagues.
Technical and Physical skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel and other relevant computer tools, be physically fit and capable of lifting and managing gym, equipment daily as part of regular duties.
Personal Attributes: Enthusiastic, proactive and team oriented, with a strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement in the fitness industry.
