About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Event Manager - Australian Open to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Australian Open (AO). Reporting to the Head of Australian Open, this role plays a critical part in delivering one of the world's premier sporting events, ensuring excellence across operations, client management, and customer experience.

Working closely with Tennis Australia, you will lead project planning, stakeholder engagement, and operational delivery, contributing to our vision of Welcoming the World to the Unforgettable.

Key Responsibilities

* Project Management – Manage AO project plans, lead execution and planning meetings, track progress and risks, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful delivery.
* Cost Management – Oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate cost tracking, procurement processes, and event cost estimation.
* Event Planning – Support planning across event areas, ensuring compliance with standards and legislation, while developing operational plans and supporting documentation and training.
* Event Delivery – Act as a key contact during the event, ensuring delivery aligns with plans and standards, while supporting workforce capability and customer‐facing excellence.
* Customer Experience – Build strong client relationships, deliver high‐quality guest experiences, manage stakeholder needs, and use insights to enhance outcomes.
* Risk, Security & Safety – Work with safety stakeholders to manage risks, promote proactive safety practices, and ensure full compliance with regulations.
* Stakeholder Management – Develop and maintain effective relationships, ensure clear communication, and align outcomes with organisational and client objectives.
* Continuous Improvement – Drive process improvements, enhance efficiency, and contribute to ongoing learning and development initiatives.
* Leadership & Team Development – Support and coach teams, share knowledge, and lead by example through strong organisational values.

About you

You are a highly organised and proactive event professional with experience delivering large‐scale, complex events. You thrive in fast‐paced environments and are confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

You have:

* Event management experience, preferably in large scale or green‐field sites.
* Experience establishing constructive and effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
* Familiar with large and complex event productions and/or high‐profile sporting events and deep specific knowledge including areas such as cleaning, field of play, event security, event production and guest services.
* Experience with risk management, and safety operations.
* Strong attention to detail with exceptional planning and organisational skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple, often competing, demands/tasks effectively, remaining calm in high pressure situations.
* Financial acumen related to event budgeting and reconciliations.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Excel to an intermediate or above standard level.
* Proficiency with Monday.com.
* Proficiency with event management software.
* Tertiary qualification in Events, Sport, Tourism, or Project Management.
* Relevant certifications (e.g. RSA, White Card, Safety Officer, Fire Warden).
