Aircraft maintenance professionals play a pivotal role in ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft, adhering to stringent aviation standards. Their primary responsibilities encompass maintaining and certifying aircraft within their scope of authorization, endorsing all maintenance and general aviation tasks completed in the aircraft's continuing airworthiness record system, and providing support to maintenance managers in executing maintenance and aviation-related duties.
Key performance indicators include:
1. **Platform-specific safety familiarization training**
2. Competence assessment on tasks being authorized
3. **System or component-specific courses for component-level maintenance**
4. Understanding of Plan, Brief, Execute, Debrief (PBED) principles
5. Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
6. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the effects of human factors in maintenance
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess strong technical supervision skills, with the ability to coach and mentor junior engineers in on-the-job progression. Required qualifications include a tertiary degree in Aeroskills – Mechanical from a recognized institution, excellent knowledge of DASRs, and the ability to work rotating shifts. Additionally, a Military Aircraft Maintenance License (MAML) on applicable types is necessary.
