About the Role
The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania's largest hospital, delivering tertiary-level surgical services. The Theatre Support Officer provides operational and technical support in the Operating Theatre environment, preparing rooms, supporting equipment use, assisting patient movement and positioning, and maintaining cleanliness, infection control, and safety. The Officer works with nursing, medical, and allied health staff to ensure a smooth flow of perioperative services and safe, dignified care.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with patient handling, movement, and positioning in a perioperative environment, complying with WH&S requirements.
* Support safe use of specialised theatre equipment and emergency procedures.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control in operating rooms.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team in a fast‐paced, high‐pressure setting.
Qualifications & Experience
* Demonstrated ability to safely assist with patient handling and positioning.
* Sound communication skills and teamwork in a fast‐paced environment.
* Knowledge or ability to develop knowledge of theatre equipment, infection prevention, and emergency procedures.
* Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support from a nationally accredited provider.
Salary & Benefits
* Fixed‐term / casual, shift worker positions for approximately 12 months, commencing as soon as possible.
* Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 pro rata per annum plus a 12 % superannuation contribution.
* Casual loading: 25 % (approximately $42.34 to $45.45).
* Salary packaging: up to $9,010 in living expenses and $2,650 in meal entertainment per FBT year.
