The Royal Hobart Hospital Department of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine delivers Tasmania’s statewide hyperbaric oxygen therapy service, providing treatment for: Diving-related injuries Complex wound care Radiation tissue injury Emergency hyperbaric presentations Altitude and flight simulation research We are also expanding into hypobaric (altitude exposure) capability. Current staff have completed aeronautical medicine and hypoxia training, supporting future research and development in extreme and aerospace environments. The Role Working in accordance with regulatory requirements, Australian Standards, and established policies, the Hyperbaric and Altitude Technician supports the delivery of a statewide clinical service by: Supervising and operating hyperbaric and hypobaric multi-place and mono-place chambers, including all ancillary systems Delivering prescribed hyperbaric treatments under the direction of specialist medical staff Implementing unit policies and safety systems in collaboration with the Medical Director, Hyperbaric Specialists, nursing leadership, and Technical Facilities Manager You will be responsible for: Safe operation of chambers and associated plant in line with Fink Engineering and Sechrist operating manuals Supporting a range of activities including patient treatment, diver treatment, staff training, research, and flight simulation Conducting pre-start checks, safety briefings, and managing compression/decompression procedures Monitoring life support systems and ensuring safe environmental conditions Coordinating emergency response procedures where required Ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose and compatible within a pressurised and oxygen-enriched environment Please refer to the Statement of Duties for full selection criteria. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
