Fire Capability Leader
The Role
This is a leadership opportunity to oversee Oakey station, leading a team that provides firefighting, rescue, and emergency response services. The primary focus will be on ensuring successful deployment of personnel, equipment, planning, and stakeholder engagement to meet Defence capability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain high operational preparedness among station teams to ensure immediate response to and successful management of all contracted emergency scenarios.
* Accountable for resource allocation, including personnel, fleet, equipment, and training, to meet contract objectives.
* Foster an inclusive working environment by leading employee engagement and driving service excellence.
* Build relationships with Defence Service Personnel, SEG Leadership, Base Community, and Industry partners to promote emergency response services.
* Lead 'safety and health above all else' promise by driving safety, environmental, and health outcomes through role modeling our behaviours and leading a culture of compliance.
* Contribute to redefining service excellence by developing a world-class emergency response service.
Requirements
* Desirable: Experience in emergency management in a dynamic, high-risk operating environment.
* Graduate or Post Graduate qualification in Business Management.
* Background in complex service delivery across a geographically dispersed and/or multi-agency operation with a large workforce.
* Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities based on risk.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
* Demonstrated experience with leading people programs, including recruitment, training, and leadership development, workforce planning, mentoring, and change management.
* Experience in the application of Enterprise Agreements and partnering with unions.
* Customer Centric, noting Defence as the client.
* Commercially astute and strategic with experience in workforce planning, financial reporting, SHEQ, compliance, and governance.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
* Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance as an Australian Citizen.
