Overview
Family Support Coordinator at Mabel Park State School and Woodridge North State School. You will build and strengthen family–school partnerships, support early-years transitions from early learning settings, improve engagement, and broker multi‑agency support for diverse, multilingual and First Nations families from P to 2 within the two schools. Help children, families and community groups come together to support and build inclusive relationships within these two vibrant school environments.
About the Schools
Mabel Park State School is a large Prep to Year 6 primary school with a robust focus on engagement, behaviour support and positive partnerships with families. Woodridge North State School is a multicultural Prep to Year 6 school with a celebrated strong EAL/D profile and a proud tradition of community partnerships. Together, these schools serve diverse Logan communities where coordinated health, therapeutic, and family support services make a tangible difference to children's learning and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Support confident transitions from early childhood into Prep and across P‑2.
- Facilitate access to learning, health and wellbeing supports to strengthen engagement.
- Build family capacity and strengthen school–community partnerships across both sites.
- Broker multi‑agency casework and maintain accurate, confidential records.
- Partner with teachers and support staff to connect families with tailored services.
- Provide support for vulnerable cohorts, including First Nations students, EAL/D families, children with disability, and children in care.
- Use data to monitor engagement, evaluate interventions and inform planning.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of early‑years transitions and strategies to create welcoming school environments.
- Ability to support student engagement through positive attendance and behaviour strategies.
- Experience in case management with vulnerable families and using trauma‑informed practice.
- Skills in culturally responsive practice with First Nations and multicultural/EAL/D communities.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Blue Card requirements, Disability Standards for Education) and strong record‑keeping skills.
Desirable
- Knowledge of NDIS and early intervention pathways.
- Experience in interagency collaboration and community development.
- Skills in cross‑cultural communication and working with interpreters.
- Ability to use digital tools for engagement tracking and referrals.
