The Meat Department Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the team to maximise sales growth and control costs. They maintain high standards of product quality and presentation while ensuring safe food handling and hygiene awareness in their team.
Key responsibilities include providing leadership, coaching, and developing the team; recognising, rewarding, and celebrating successes; delighting customers with an incredible display servicing the local community with a customised product range; and taking a collaborative approach to meet sales targets, cost control, and rostering.
The role requires inspiring customers through presentation, merchandising, and stock management; streamlining processes to meet audit and compliance standards; and providing a safe environment for the team and customers.
Qualifications and experience required include an Australian Butchery Trade Certificate, fresh food retail or supermarket knowledge with a customer-focused approach, and competency in ordering, cost control, wage control, rostering, and gross profit budgeting.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have supermarket or department management experience, expertise in breaking beef, lamb, pork, and chicken, and computer literacy for promotional and forecasting purposes.
They must also possess excellent merchandising skills, customer service, and a positive attitude, as well as a commitment to occupational health and safety and food safety standards.
