About The Service
The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.
The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-integrated recovery and clinical support.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:
Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency DepartmentAccess support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting

Role Overview
As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinician will provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing the service within a community based mental health care setting. As well as working with relevant service systems to respond appropriately to their mental health and developmental needs.
Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planningWork collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approachWork cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies
Requirements
Must have one of the following: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker OR a Counselling degree and PACFA/ ACA registration along with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the relevant fieldKnowledge and experience in the provision of clinical mental health assessment and evidence-based interventionsProven judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planningSound understating of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community settingDemonstrated computer skills and ability to maintain clinical recordsProven understanding of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentialityPositive, solution-focused attitude with commitment to positively participate in service improvement activities and personal clinical growthWell-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skillsMust be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWVPMust hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
