Solution Architect - 5 Months Contract - Perth, Hybrid

A WA State Government department is delivering a major corporate reform initiative as part of a broader public sector transformation agenda. The program focusses on modernising corporate services, reducing duplication across agencies, and establishing secure, scalable, and data-driven digital platforms aligned to whole-of-government standards.
Your new role
As a Solution Architect, you will play a critical role in a large-scale government corporate services transition program based in Perth. The initiative supports the transition of approximately 54 corporate business functions between state government departments, with a strong emphasis on cloud platforms, identity, integration, and data.
You will work closely with Business Analysts, SMEs, ICT teams, and vendors to define current and target state architectures, assess existing applications, and design Azure-based, secure, and interoperable solutions that eliminate duplication and enable new or expanded corporate services.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading solution architecture activities across business, application, data, and technology domains
Translating business requirements into Azure-aligned, customer‑centric solution designs
Assessing applications and platforms to identify rationalisation and cloud migration opportunities
Designing solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure services, including integration and data platforms
Defining identity and access architectures using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
Developing solution blueprints, logical and physical designs, and interface specifications
Producing options analyses, architecture artefacts, and high-level cost and effort estimates
Creating transition and migration roadmaps, including interim states, dependencies, and cutover approaches
Providing architectural governance and ensuring compliance with enterprise and government ICT standards
Supporting knowledge transfer and capability uplift within internal government teams
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience delivering end-to-end Solution Architecture in complex enterprise or State Government environments.
Strong hands-on experience designing solutions on Microsoft Azure, including cloud migration and modernisation
Solid experience with Microsoft Entra ID, including identity, access management, and security design
Strong data architecture experience, including data integration, data platforms, and information management
Ability to define current, target state architectures aligned to enterprise architecture principles
Experience with integration patterns, APIs, and hybrid cloud environments
Demonstrated capability in application rationalisation and consolidation initiatives
Strong documentation skills (solution designs, options papers, estimates, roadmaps)
Experience providing architectural leadership across multidisciplinary delivery teams
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Experience supporting large-scale organisational and technology change
A current (less than 6 months) Australia‑wide Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
