Overview
VFRS volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local community is safe. Brigade firefighters are trained to carry out a range of activities including:
* Structural fire response
* Vehicle accident response
* Attending hazardous material (HAZMAT) incidents
* Supporting other emergency service agencies as required
* Community education and engagement

Time Required
Occasional weekend training & exercises throughout the year. All members are expected to attend once a week for training, where possible, to maintain skills currency. Attend emergency callouts when available.
Training
New members are required to complete basic training prior to attending incidents. You will have the opportunity to be trained on various apparatus and in emergency procedures. All training and personal protective clothing & equipment is provided.
