About the opportunity:

Based in North Sydney with a hybrid work model
We are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join the team. As a Data Scientist, You will play a key role in the research, development, and deployment of sophisticated mathematical models that influence strategic decision-making, revenue, and the experience of brands and audiences across Australia and New Zealand.
Key responsibilities and experience:
* Develop and deploy mathematical optimisation models – both linear and mixed integer programs.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
* Design and conduct A/B experiments to stress-test and validate model assumptions.
* Analyse large datasets to extract meaningful insights and support data-driven decision-making.
* Communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reporting and visualisations.
Experience and responsibilities:
* 2+ years of experience in mathematical optimisation
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other highly quantitative degree.
* Experience in mathematical optimisation in an industrial or research setting, or in a similar role.
* Familiarity with Gurobi, CPLEX, or other solvers.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Julia.
* Proficiency in database languages such as SQL.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Qualification:
* A background in Operations Research.
* Experience with modern big data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, DBT).
* Knowledge of machine learning techniques and statistical concepts.
* Familiarity with MLOps principles and tools for model deployment and monitoring.
