Strategic Communications and Digital Media and Design Advisors
The Net Zero Economy Act 2024 (NZEA Act) established the Net Zero Economy Authority (the Authority) as a statutory agency in December 2024.
Our vision is to deliver a better future for industrial regions, communities and workers in a net zero economy. Our vision underpins all our work. It reflects the objectives of the NZEA Act, which directs us to:
* promote orderly and positive economic transformation
* facilitate greenhouse gas emissions reductions
* ensure regions, communities and workers are supported to manage the impacts, and share in the benefits, of the net zero economy. The authority is presently establishing itself as a separate entity, including off-boarding from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C). The authority is expected to transition shortly to being a separate entity from PM&C, at which time, all employees will transfer under Machinery of Government (MoG) changes to the authority.
As per the Net Zero Economy Authority Transitional Act, the PM&C Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 will apply to all non-SES employees. The PM&C EA will continue until the nominal expiry date of 28 February 2027.
The authority has a legislated function to encourage, support, develop and deliver educational and promotional initiatives for the purpose of promoting an understanding of, and enabling participation in, Australia’s transition to a net zero emissions economy.
The Communications Branch drives the delivery of this function and is responsible for managing communications to support Australian communities and their economic transition.
The Branch collaborates within the authority, and with external partners, to deliver targeted communications strategies and products to meet the needs of our audiences, and meet the business requirements of the authority.
There are two sections within the branch:
* Strategic Communications
* Digital, Media and Design
