Aerotek Australia, part of the Dy-Mark Group, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our manufacturing site in Wacol on a permanent afternoon shift.
This is a hands-on role working closely with the Plant Manager to ensure production equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently through proactive preventative maintenance and timely reactive repairs.
About the role
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a key role in supporting production by maintaining and improving plant and equipment performance. This role suits a trade-qualified fitter who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in safety, quality, and reliability.
This position is afternoon shift, supporting ongoing production operations.
Key responsibilities
* Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing of production equipment
* Fault finding, repairs, and replacement of machine components
* Proactively monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities
* Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
* Use a range of tools and metalworking equipment (lathe, milling, drilling, welding)
* Complete maintenance documentation, checklists, and reports
* Maintain strong compliance with WHS, permit systems, and safety procedures
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance function
About you
You are a reliable and safety-focused tradesperson who can work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Essential requirements:
* Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or Fitting & Turning (or equivalent)
* Minimum 2 years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment
* Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills
* Pneumatic systems experience
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive maintenance mindset
* Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workload effectively
Desirable:
* Manufacturing industry experience
* Machinist qualifications
* Gas training (Type B or similar)
* Electrical skills (test & tag, plug-top replacement)
* Experience working in hazardous area environments
