The role requires frequent travel across the Region. The 12 month fixed term 1.0FTE ‘Senior Program Advisor – Divisional Disabilities Coordinator' position is available from 17 April 2026. About the Role The Department of Education is committed to building a more inclusive education system, one that ensures every student with disability can thrive at school and in life. The Department is delivering Disability Inclusion to transform the way students with disability are supported in Victorian government schools. Disability Inclusion will provide a range of supports, tools, guidance and training to ensure schools can provide an inclusive environment for all members of their school community. The role will have regional oversight (not line management) of the area-based disability coordinators' work priorities and include the following functions: * Provide flexible Divisional Disability Coordinator deployment across all areas, in accordance with seasonal demand * Act as regional lead for specialist schools – on specific portfolios including non-standard enrolments and Disability Inclusion specialist school specific support (e.g. NDIS Navigators) * Establish and coordinate Communities of Practice for the Regional Disability Coordinators across the region * Support and coordinate the implementation of any new policy and commitments related to Disability Inclusion * Coordinate Nationally Consistent Collection of Data training and supports, reducing load and requests of area staff. * Other regional priorities as decided by the region The role contributes to and supports the inclusive education agenda by performing the role of a Disabilities Coordinator within Region and when required, within areas. The Divisional Disabilities Coordinator will work closely with area-based Disabilities Coordinators (Regional Disability Coordinators), the Health, Wellbeing and Specialist Services Branches, areas, central, and divisional colleagues. When providing flexible support to areas as in the role of an area-based Disabilities Coordinators (Regional Disability Coordinators), Divisional Disabilities Coordinators will be required to support the implementation of programs designed to improve the educational outcomes for students with disabilities and additional learning needs, including strategies that ensure inclusive practices and effective educational programs to support students with disabilities in schools from Foundation until year 12. The role requires an excellent understanding of disability, inclusion and the legislated rights of children and students with disabilities. You must be able to effectively manage a range of stakeholders whilst promoting inclusion and building capability across the region. Highly developed interpersonal skills, collaboration, flexibility and ability to drive continuous improvement while responding to changing priorities and new ideas will be pivotal to your success. Qualifications and Experience Desirable: Relevant experience in schools and/or education system Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification in education, disability, allied health or relevant field The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check. About the Group Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs. The roles are located within the Disability Inclusion Implementation team, Student Wellbeing & Engagement Branch, SRS in NEVR. The Disability Inclusion Implementation team works collaboratively with schools and Areas to support the delivery of Disability Inclusion reform across the Region. The Disability Inclusion Implementation team provides advice, support, and training to enable implementation of the 3 reform components - funding model transition, capability building and culture change.
