Grove Construct is the manufacturing and construction arm of Grove Group, delivering high-quality modular and relocatable buildings across education, government, commercial and private sector projects.
We operate in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, speed, cost control and program certainty matter. As the business continues to grow, we are investing in stronger systems, better data, improved estimating processes and tighter integration between design, procurement and production.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead and improve our estimating function.
This role will report to the Head of Design, Estimating and Procurement and will manage two estimators.
This is not a passive estimating role. We are looking for someone who can estimate accurately today, while also helping transform how estimating is completed across the business.
A key focus will be improving the efficiency, accuracy and sophistication of our estimating function. This includes moving away from reliance on trade-by-trade pricing wherever possible and towards a more structured, data-driven model using schedules of rates, standard cost libraries, repeatable pricing methods and stronger Bill of Materials accuracy.
You will work closely with design and procurement to improve estimating accuracy, BOM completeness, supplier pricing, cost visibility and value for money.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the estimating function across Grove Construct.
Manage, support and develop two estimators.
Prepare, review and manage estimates for modular, relocatable and construction projects.
Improve estimating accuracy, consistency and commercial reliability.
Move the business towards schedules of rates, cost libraries and repeatable pricing models where practical.
Work with design to improve drawing completeness, scope clarity and BOM accuracy.
Work with procurement to improve supplier pricing, material cost data and value-for-money outcomes.
Identify scope gaps, assumptions and risks within estimates before submission or approval.
Develop improved estimating systems, templates, processes and reporting tools.
Support the use of technology, automation and data to improve estimating speed and accuracy.
Provide clear feedback to the business where design, procurement or project information is incomplete.
Help build a more structured, scalable and commercially disciplined estimating function.
About You
You will be an experienced estimator or estimating leader with a strong technical and commercial understanding of construction.
You do not need to come from modular construction, but you must understand construction pricing, trade scopes, materials, labour, subcontractors and cost risk.
You will be hands‐on and comfortable preparing estimates yourself, while also having the ability to step back and improve the system around you.
We are looking for someone practical, commercially sharp and capable of improving how things are done without waiting for perfect conditions.
Candidates must hold permanent residency or Australian citizenship.
Required Experience
Previous estimating experience in construction, modular construction, commercial building, manufacturing, fit‐out or a related sector.
Minimum 5-7 years of estimating experience in construction or related sectors.
Strong understanding of construction costs, trade scopes, materials and subcontractor pricing.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and project documentation.
Experience preparing detailed estimates and identifying scope gaps.
Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail.
Strong Excel and general systems capability.
Willingness to adopt and develop new tools, automation and technology within the estimating function.
Practical, hands‐on attitude with the ability to operate in a fast‐moving business.
Highly Regarded
Experience managing or mentoring estimators.
Experience transforming or improving an estimating function.
Experience developing schedules of rates or standardised cost libraries.
Experience working with Bills of Materials.
Experience in modular construction, off‐site construction or manufacturing-led construction.
Experience using estimating software, ERP systems or automation tools.
Why Join Grove Construct?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a critical function in a growing construction and manufacturing business.
You will have the ability to shape the estimating function, influence how the business prices work and work closely with design, procurement and senior management to improve commercial outcomes.
For the right person, this is a genuine opportunity to build something stronger, not just inherit an existing estimating desk.
