A leading role in the Heavy Air Lift System Program Office seeks an experienced and skilled Commercial Manager to support the organization's commercial direction. This pivotal position involves optimizing practices to deliver effective and efficient capability to meet Australia's national interests.
About the Role
* Maintain a focus on delivering outcomes while achieving value for money.
* Take responsibility for delivering contract management and procurement services within a framework of legislation and Commonwealth policies.
* Negotiate and establish new complex contracts adhering to defence procurement processes, regulations, and compliance.
* Manage and oversee contracts ensuring quality delivery of products/services while maintaining legislative compliance.
* Ensure adherence to defence industry regulations, export controls, and security protocols.
* Identify and manage risks associated with contracts and projects, including legal, financial, and operational risks.
* Monitor and analyze financial aspects of defence projects, including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with defence agencies and industry partners to facilitate contract execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve commercial objectives.
* Lead and mentor teams to achieve industry best practices.
* Deliver commercial and finance advice to senior management.
* Analyze and adjust priorities in a dynamic environment.

About Our Team
The Heavy Air Lift Systems Program Office provides sustainment support for four key platforms, including the KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport and C-17A Globemaster Heavy Lift Transport. As part of its Capability acquisition arm, HALSPO delivers mid-life upgrades and capability enhancement projects for these platforms.
Requirements
* Relevant commercial experience to implement and manage multiple complex commercial arrangements.
* Proactive planning, risk management, collaboration, and initiative.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to prepare briefings, submissions, reports, and communicate unit commercial strategy to stakeholders and senior managers.
* High motivation, solutions focus, ability to present ideas persuasively, critical thinking, listening, and effective communication skills.
