This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment where individuals and teams can succeed.The day to dayIn this role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of professionals and help shape the way we work—focusing on operational efficiency, strong people leadership, and service excellence. Your key responsibilities include:Overseeing daily production and coordinating sample workflowsManaging staff resourcing, rosters, and labour planningLeading capacity planning to support volume growth and equipment upgradesDriving performance metrics including service delivery times, accuracy, and efficiencyMaintaining compliance with long-term HR strategies and performance management requirementsSupporting a strong quality system, including audit response and data integrityEnsuring laboratory methods meet or exceed company and industry standards (ISO17025)Championing a proactive safety culture and ensuring HSE compliance across all lab activityAuthorising the purchase of consumables and managing operational costsFostering a culture of continuous improvement through new tech, systems, and workflowsLeading and mentoring the team to build capability, accountability, and future leadershipCollaborating with the Business Manager and State Manager on lab operations and strategyThe EssentialsWe’re looking for a confident, people-first leader with a hands-on approach and a passion for quality science.
