Who We Are
The Outback Pie Co is a leading Australian innovator in baked goods, supplying 7-Eleven, Ampol Australia, and Woolworths across Petrol & Convenience, Foodservice, and Retail channels. Based in Townsville, we're a team of 60 who move fast, think boldly, and back our people.
The Opportunity
We need a commercially sharp Finance Manager to lead our internal finance function and partner directly with the CEO. You'll drive product costing, cash flow, compliance, and management reporting — and lead a small finance and administration team. Taxation is handled externally; you'll coordinate with our advisors and own everything in-house.
This is a high-impact role in a genuinely innovative business. Townsville offers a brilliant lifestyle — reef, sunshine, and a real cost-of-living advantage over southern capitals.
30 hours (3-4 days) per week part-time, will attract a pro-rata salary of $120-$135K.
What You'll Do
* Develop and maintain product costings for new and existing SKUs, supporting pricing and margin decisions across all channels.
* Partner with Operations on production variance analysis, labour efficiency, and overhead allocation.
* Prepare and manage rolling cash flow forecasts and working capital reporting.
* Deliver monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and performance dashboards.
* Own the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and capital investment modelling.
* Prepare and lodge quarterly BAS and manage superannuation obligations in compliance with SGC requirements.
* Complete month-end reconciliations and journal entries to agreed timelines.
* Drive ERP and costing system improvements; strengthen financial controls across the business.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and administration team.
What We're Looking For
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; CA/CPA qualified or working towards it.
* 5+ years' management accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or FMCG.
* Strong product costing capability — you know your way around a BOM.
* Solid BAS, GST, and superannuation compliance experience.
* Advanced Excel and ERP/MRP system proficiency.
* A confident communicator who translates financial complexity into clear operational insight.
* Experience leading a small team.
Desirable: food manufacturing background; costing system implementation experience; inventory and supply chain finance knowledge.
Why Join Us
* Direct CEO reporting line with real strategic influence.
* A true industry innovator with national-brand customers and serious growth ambitions.
* The Townsville lifestyle — reef, sunshine, and lower cost of living than southern capitals.
* Flexible part-time arrangement, 3–4 days per week.
* Competitive pro-rata salary reflecting the seniority and scope of the role.
