Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Australian Institute for Machine Learning is seeking motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellows to undertake fundamental machine learning research. The successful candidate will be part of a world-class, outcome-based research centre within a 'Group of Eight' University.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct fundamental machine learning research for projects aligned to one or more of the following themes: Tackling misinformation, Safe AI in the Real world, Diverse AI, or AI that can explain its actions working on causal AI for a changing world.
* Develop and apply novel machine learning techniques to address fundamental problems in responsible AI.
* Contribute to the development of new ideas, theories, and methods in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Requirements:
* A PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or other Machine Learning-related field.
* Programming experience in Python, C++ or other relevant language and expertise in deep neural networks.
* Strong mathematical capability, especially for Theme 1, with applicants holding an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in mathematics encouraged to apply.
* Experience and demonstrable knowledge in deep learning and one or more of the following: transformer networks, implicit neural functions, graph neural networks and/or probabilistic graphical models; and causal inference.
* An outstanding publication record in top-tier machine learning and/or computer vision conferences or journals, commensurate with experience and opportunity.
* A strong work ethic, and the ability to work well independently, and as a member of a broader team, including with industrial, educational and community partners.
* Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience.
