Midtown pet centre – Tallebudgera Valley QLD. Midtown Pet Centre is a caring pet boarding business in Tallebudgera Valley on the Gold Coast, offering a high standard of accommodation and care for dogs and cats.
We are looking for an Animal Attendant to join our team as a casual employee (although part‑time and full‑time positions may be available for the correct candidate).
As an Animal Attendant, you will provide overall care for all our pet guests.
For now, the role requires 1 x 9‑hour shift per week from 7 am to 5 pm, increasing to up to 5 shifts per week over the peak holiday season. Weekend work (Saturdays and Sundays) paid at the relevant penalty rates may be available if preferred.
Responsibilities
* Walk dogs in the morning (7:30 am‑9:00 am) and afternoons (2:30‑4:00 pm).
* Prepare and clean, disinfect and maintain comfortable enclosures for all pets (cats & dogs).
* Perform health checks, administer medication when required and maintain animal records.
* Ensure animal hygiene and wellness.
* Provide highest standard of physical and emotional welfare through exercise, handling and personal attention as required.
* Feed, hydro‑bathe/groom, train and care for all pet guests.
* Supervise and arrange play sessions for dog guests in the off‑leash fenced exercise yard.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Confidence in handling animals, especially larger dogs, and reading dog & cat body language.
* Horse or other farm experience, or previous dog‑handling experience in a work environment is highly regarded.
* Mentally and physically strong – able to cover 15,000+ steps on busy days.
* Able to plan and deliver set tasks efficiently and on time.
* Capable of working well in a small team and maintaining strong working relationships with other staff.
* Highly motivated self‑starter, fully committed to caring for pet guests.
* Available for school holidays and prepared to work weekends.
* Able to work autonomously and multitask in a sometimes pressured environment.
* Current driver's licence and own vehicle.
