Overview
Senior Lead Python Developer (Must hold an active NV1 Security Clearance).
We are looking for an experienced Senior Lead Python Developer who will oversee the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end data science solutions within the Microsoft Azure and Data Fabric workplace for an upcoming long-term contract.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of robust Python-based solutions for efficient data processing and transformation of large datasets from ADLS and Databricks, ensuring data quality and readiness for model development.
- Ensure that all development efforts align with the overall Indigo and data platform architecture to contribute to a scalable and robust solution.
- Develop, test, and maintain Python-based data solutions in accordance with standards and best practices to ensure maintainable, scalable, reliable, and high-quality code.
- Follow the Agile methodology for software development using tools such as Azure DevOps and participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure they are run effectively.
- Design, implement, and train machine learning models using Python libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLflow within Databricks) to address specific business problems, iterating on model architecture and hyperparameters to achieve optimal performance.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with core Python, its web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI), and key data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Expertise in building, training, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar, with strong understanding of model optimisation and performance tuning.
- Experience as a Python Development Lead, with proven ability to manage and mentor a development team.
- Strong understanding of the data science lifecycle, from data exploration and preprocessing to model deployment and monitoring.
- Experience with large datasets stored in Azure Gen2 Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse, and Databricks (Apache Spark); and implementing automated pipelines for data ingestion (Synapse Pipelines) and solution deployment (DevOps pipelines).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with at least one model deployment framework or service (e.g., Databricks Model Serving, Azure Machine Learning).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is advantageous.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering).
