Solution Architect

Lead the development of end to end fit for purpose cloud solution architectures (including design, scope and implementation).
Key Responsibilities
Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with QPS values as outlined above.
Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Ensure system requirements are sufficiently captured to drive the architecting of a solution that fully meets the needs and expectations of system stakeholders.
Identify and assess the implications of applicable Queensland Health, whole-of-government and industry related policies, standards and any other constraints (including funding and schedule) that impact architectural decision-making and ensure these are appropriately reflected in the solution architecture by evaluating and undertaking an impact analysis on major architectural options and assess associated risks and issues, ensuring that the solution architecture balances function, service, quality and system management requirements.
Consult, negotiate and communicate with system stakeholders and ICT professionals to promote shared and consistent understanding and acceptance of the proposed solution.
Provide expert advice and communicate solution alternatives, architectural risks, issues and resulting implications.
Manage cloud engagements using project management methodologies to prioritise, organise and implement resource and work schedules by defining the resources and services required to deliver solution architectures.
Develop comprehensive responses, briefs, submissions, presentations and reports to guide the development and implementation of solution architecture.
Promote and ensure that appropriate methods and tools for solution architecture are adopted and used effectively within Cloud Services ensuring the conducting and documenting of architectural trade‑off analysis to support and justify architectural decisions made during the specification of the solution architecture.
Develop and manage relationships with and between stakeholders, including senior program/project executives, facilitating open communication and collaborative working relationships.
Lead the development of solution architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with, and traceability across specified requirements within enterprise architecture and governance frameworks to ensure fit for purpose cloud solutions.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Key Responsibilities’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Proven expertise in the development of cloud solution architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with and traceability across specified requirements within enterprise architecture and governance frameworks. (SFIA:ARCH Level 5)
Ability to evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major architectural options and assess associated risks and issues, ensuring that the solution architecture balances function, service quality and system management requirements. (SFIA: DESN Level 5)
Ability to promote and ensure the use of solution architecture techniques, methodologies and tools ensuring consistency within the team. (SFIA : METL Level 5)
High level of expertise and experience in the following technology domains to architectural standards, decisions, direction, standardisation and professional advice:
Cloud Connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, VPN, Peering)
Identity & Federation Services
DNS / DHCP / Group Policy
High level expertise and experience in applying cloud architectural principles in terms of scalability, resiliency, security, cost, automation, and management and monitoring.
Ability to establish and influence positive, strategic partnerships and team-oriented working relationships with key senior executive stakeholders and key decision makers both internal and external to Queensland Health. (SFIA: RLMT Level 6), (NHS: Effective and strategic influencing)
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision‑making abilities to identify, analyse and resolve technology challenges in response to business and ICT requirements.
Proven expertise in applying solution architecture principles, practices and processes within enterprise architecture, ICT investment and governance frameworks.
