Seeking Database Administrators with experience in OLAP, RDBMS and Document/Object stores.
The Database Administrator will be responsible for deploying and managing enterprise database platforms. This includes designing, administering and supporting production databases including relational and non-relational databases. They will manage end-to-
end database administration functions, using appropriate tools and techniques while optimising database performance. Working in a diverse team environment, this will involve sharing outcomes and experience with others to support development and growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect, install, configure and maintain scalable high availability database solutions including routine upgrades and capacity planning.
• Undertake performance testing and tuning of databases.
• Troubleshoot and optimise performance by analysing database configurations, fine‑tuning queries, and designing/maintaining effective indexing strategies.
• Manage backup, restore and disaster‑recovery processes including developing, testing and documenting disaster-recovery plans to ensure rapid recovery in the event of an outage.
• Apply security controls by performing timely security patching, managing user accounts and roles, enforcing encryption, and conducting regular risk assessments to mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Develop relevant technical documentation and track progress in collaboration tools.
• Work with business stakeholders, project managers, system architects, software developers and date engineers.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualifications in a technology field.
Required Knowledge/Experience and tools
• 3+ years of relevant Database Administrator experience.
• The ability to create and maintain standardised tooling and techniques, ensuring consistent database administration approaches, accompanied by thorough testing and documentation
• Adept at troubleshooting and resolving system issues to minimise downtime.
• The ability to install, configure and maintain scalable high availability database solutions.
• Able to develop, deploy and maintain scalable solutions using SQL.
• Experience in a range of database platforms, including:
o Online Analytical Processing (OLAP).
o Relational databases (RDBMS).
o Document stores.
o Object stores.
• Collaborate in cross functional teams that include technical and non-technicalstakeholders.
SFIA Skills/Attributes • Aligned Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) skills, such as:
o Database Administration (DBAD).
o Database Design (DBDS).
Security Required: TSPV Security Clearance required
Contract - 12 Months Contract with 2 x 12 months extension
Location - Canberra and Sydney
