About The Opportunity
This role offers a unique chance to shape employment relations and organisational culture on a permanent, full-time basis.
As a key member of our People and Culture team, you will lead the development and execution of our Employment Relations (ER) strategy, fostering a collaborative and positive ER environment across the organisation.
* Champion a constructive and inclusive employment relations culture throughout the Council
* Drive the development and implementation of the Employment Relations Strategy
* Lead the ongoing development and negotiation of the Enterprise Agreement
* Effectively resolve industrial disputes and address emerging employment matters
* Advise and support senior leaders and the People and Culture team on employment relations issues
* Develop and enhance organisational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice
This position requires a motivated and experienced professional passionate about shaping positive workplace cultures. You will assist the Executive Manager in advising and supporting senior leaders and the People and Culture team on employment relations issues.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant university degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Law or equivalent
* In-depth practical experience in all relevant areas of the role with a strong understanding of Australian workplace laws as applicable
* Proven track record in resolving complex industrial matters, disputes and investigations in a unionised and multi-site environment
* Demonstrated high level negotiation and influencing skills with prior experience in negotiating Enterprise Agreements
* Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of policy, procedure and related communications and programs
* Demonstrated experience in leading and coaching a team of direct and/or indirect reports and colleagues as a designated subject matter expert
* Demonstrated high level stakeholder management skills with the ability to coach and mentor senior managers on employment relation matters
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Accreditation and/or experience in alternative dispute resolution methods and techniques
* Experience in organisations that are unionised and have a workforce dispersed over multiple sites
* Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
