Job Description

About the role

Step into a pivotal role maintaining the critical infrastructure of Sydney Airport. As an Electrical Technician, you’ll oversee the smooth operation of electrical systems across terminals, aerobridges, and the airfield, including high-voltage systems and runway lighting. Your responsibilities will range from scheduled preventative maintenance to fault finding, diagnostics, and hands-on repairs.

Working in a complex, high-stakes environment, you’ll collaborate with teams across the airport to support seamless operations. From escorting emergency services to managing isolations and contractor oversight, your contributions will ensure Sydney Airport remains efficient and operational day and night.

What you’ll be doing

* Performing preventative maintenance and responding to issues across the airport’s facilities, including terminals, aerobridges, and the airfield.
* Fault finding and repairing complex electrical systems, including high-voltage and low-voltage systems.
* Supervising contractors to ensure high-quality, timely, and safe work.
* Using systems like Maximo to log work orders, inspections, and follow-ups.
* Supporting operational continuity during emergencies or major works.
* Facilitating access to restricted areas and overseeing isolations for works.
* Contributing to safety and innovation in daily operations.
* This role follows a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, working either day shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or night shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, including weekends as required to support airport operations.
* When not covering for leave or other absences, you will work a standard 4-day schedule (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM) to assist with general maintenance, preventative works, and project support across the airport.

Experience you’ll bring

* Licensed Electrician with a relevant trade qualification.
* Experience in maintaining complex electrical systems, ideally within a high-pressure or regulated environment.
* Familiarity with systems such as BMS, AMS, and CMMS (Maximo preferred).
* Confined space and working-at-heights certifications, or a willingness to obtain them.
* Proficiency with electrical drawings and diagnostic tools.
* A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
* Airside or aviation experience is highly regarded but not essential – we’ll provide the training to get you up to speed.
