Position Overview
Work with all members of the prison toward ensuring the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors. Ongoing, full‑time opportunity within the Victorian Public Service. Salary range: COG2B – $85,787 – $98,651 plus superannuation. The Department of Justice and Community Safety seeks a Prison Intelligence Officer to serve at Hopkins Correctional Centre, a medium‑security prison in Western Victoria with a capacity of up to 798 inmates.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with all members of the prison to ensure safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors.
* Under limited supervision, collect, collate, record, evaluate, and assess information from all available prison sources.
* Analyze and disseminate intelligence products to authorized parties in a timely manner.
* Prevent prisoner escapes, contraband introduction, and unrest by applying intelligence gathered.
* Act as the centrally located, identifiable focal point for all intelligence‑related matters within the facility.
* Develop and present intelligence information to management, authorized persons, and external agencies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and email.
* Knowledge and experience with the operation of the prisoner telephone system, prisoner mail, and prisoner visit lists.
* Knowledge and ability to apply relevant legislation, policy, and procedures relating to Corrections Victoria and the management of prison facilities.
* Victorian Prison Officer pre‑service training or willingness to complete it.
