Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Outbye Superintendent to lead and manage outbye operations at our Narrabri underground mine. This key leadership role focuses on safety, compliance, production delivery, and contractor management across all outbye activities.
What you'll do
As Outbye Superintendent, you will lead and manage all outbye operations at Narrabri Mine, ensuring activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with company and statutory requirements. You will provide visible leadership to teams and contractors, drive performance and continuous improvement, and work closely with technical and operational teams to achieve production, compliance, and budget targets.
- Drive a safety-first culture across all outbye teams and contractors
- Lead and coordinate outbye operations to meet production and operational targets
- Develop, communicate, and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly operational plans
- Manage contractor performance and ensure work meets company standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability
- Collaborate with internal teams to solve operational challenges and achieve mine goals
What you'll bring
- Certificate of Competency as an Undermanager or relevant engineering qualifications
- Minimum 10 years' underground mining experience with proven operational leadership (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of outbye systems: conveyors, gas drainage, dust suppression, and fire prevention
- Demonstrated ability to deliver safety, compliance, and production outcomes
- Proven people leadership, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Solid commercial, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
