Mission: Your mission is maintaining and managing Microsoft SQL servers critical to business operations. You will ensure the optimal performance and reliability of database systems, promptly troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, and continuously monitor and enhance database performance. You will collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database solutions, develop and maintain SSIS packages for data integration and workflow automation, and document current processes and SQL transformations. Additionally, you will assist the DCS team in addressing data quality issues for reporting and support the Snowflake project, focusing on extracting raw data and historian data. You will also work closely with the other Maltemian in the project, and be under our Director's leadership within the project as well.
Experience Required: Minimum 7+ years of experience in MS SQL or Microsoft SQLAt least 3+ years of experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)Strong SQL, including proficient in stored procedures, temporary tables, views, and the ability to write complex queriesProven ability to analyze, understand, and enhance existing systemsExperience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI is desirableFamiliarity with Azure SQL and Snowflake is a plusRole and Responsibilities: Maintain and manage Microsoft SQL servers critical to business operationsEnsure the optimal performance and reliability of the database systemsTroubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptlyPerform routine maintenance tasks, including backups, indexing, and updatesMonitor database performance and implement improvementsCollaborate with development teams to design and optimize database solutionsDevelop and maintain SSIS packages for data integration and workflow automationGenerate reports and data visualizations using SSRS and Power BI, if neededStay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and best practicesDocument current processes and SQL transformationsAssist the DCS team in addressing data quality issues for reportingSupport our Maltem team on the Snowflake project, focusing on extracting raw data and historian dataIn-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administrationProficiency in SSIS, with the ability to design and implement complex ETL processesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective verbal and written communication abilitiesCapable of working independently and as part of a teamExperience with Azure SQL and Snowflake is advantageousLocation: The role can be performed fully remotely, but it would be ideal if the consultant could go 1-2 days a week at their office in North Sydney if based in Sydney.
