Join the team at Hilton Adelaide. We're seeking a skilled and passionate Demi Chef to contribute to our dynamic kitchen team.
Hilton Adelaide is strategically located in the heart of the city, overlooking Victoria Square. The hotel boasts 377 rooms, ranging from guest rooms to executive floor suites. Our conference and events facilities comprise 19 meeting rooms, making us the only 5-star hotel in Adelaide able to host 500 delegates under one roof.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and present high-quality dishes for the restaurant, functions, and other hotel outlets.
* Complete mise en place for relevant menus and ensure food is stored and handled correctly.
* Maintain a clean, organized work area, adhering to strict food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP, FSMS), and preventing cross-contamination.
* Support smooth day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring efficient, timely service and consistent food quality.
* Respond to guest queries in a professional and timely manner.
* Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
* Contribute to cost control efforts and support departmental financial targets.
* Report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety issues promptly.
* Work cooperatively with other departments and maintain strong working relationships.
* Adhere to all hotel security, fire, health & safety, and food safety regulations.
* Stay aware of team and departmental goals and actively contribute to achieving them.
* Promote environmental awareness in daily operations.
Requirements
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Demi Chef or equivalent role, ideally in a 5-star hotel or fine dining environment.
* Full Australian working rights and a relevant trade qualification.
* Excellent culinary skills with a solid understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
* The ability to work well under pressure, manage competing priorities, and think on your feet.
* Flexibility to move across different kitchens and service periods as needed.
* A team-focused mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* A genuine passion for food, trends, and continuous learning.
* Availability to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
