About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?
As a Rail Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing effective supervision on all rail safety and track protection matters associated with the project. You will also be working closely with all members of the Occupations and Access Team to meet the project's objectives. The role will be based out of our B2A Project worksite at Broadford. However, it also will involve travel to various construction sites to ensure that project deliverables are achieved.
Project Description
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works.
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.
Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;
* Conducting/Certifying a Rail Safety Worksite Hazard Assessment and Worksite Protection Plans to determine the appropriate protection requirements for specific project scope.
* Formulating, reviewing and where required, delivering Project Rail Safety Pre-Work Briefings
* Liaising with the Rail Disruption Team and all other stakeholders to ensure that Occupations are planned, and executed in accordance with the Project requirements
* Attending Planning & Occupation Co-ordination Meetings associated with both disruptive and non-disruptive Events
* Ensuring that all worksite protection personnel have current certificates of competency and are in possession thereof
* Ensuring that all worksite personnel have the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that the entire worksite is under surveillance and supervision.
* Complete infield Rail Safety Reports / Inspections
* Contribute and support the ongoing improvement and/or development of the project processes, policies and procedures and related to Access, Occupations and Track Protection
* Attend site and evaluate/identify potential Positions of Safety for the placement of worksite protection staff for proposed works
* Track, audit and report on Safe working Resource usage
* Assist in the management of an effective interface with the Track Protection team and other key stakeholders, both prior to and during planned Occupation events
* Coordinate and plan Safeworking Resources onsite
* Assist and support Rail Safety incidents / investigations
To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;
* Possess extensive Operational & Track Protection experience, including supervision in complex and multi- discipline environments
* ARTC and V/Line Track Force Protection Coordinator (TFPC) level 3.2 qualifications and above (preferred)
* Ability to operate and make effective decisions within a live safety critical environment
* Lead, manage, motivate, mentor and develop others
* Maintain a professional approach with all personnel across all levels and foster a team orientated culture
* Engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies and assessing Risk SFAIRP
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail
* Prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and stakeholders.
* Victorian Driver's License
* Certificate IV in Rail Safety Investigation (desirable)
* Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (desirable)
* Track vehicle Operator (TVO) (desirable)
