Overview
Story Dogs - supported by Armadale Volunteer Services – Armadale WA. Volunteers and their dog visit a school in the Armadale region every week for 2–3 hours and allow selected Year 2 students to read to them. Handler and dog must pass Dog Team Assessment. Story Dogs mission is to make reading fun for children, so that they become confident, lifelong readers. We are a support program and select Year 2 students read to an accredited dog and their handler. One child at a time, 20 minutes per session, four to five children per visit. Volunteers must be able to commit to one morning per week, each week of term all year. Please note this position is advertised through Armadale Volunteer Services.

Training will be provided in the form of one full day training plus ongoing help as required.
Responsibilities
* Volunteer and dog participate in weekly school visits in Armadale region (2–3 hours).
* Provide reading sessions for Year 2 students (one child at a time, 20 minutes per session; four to five children per visit).
* Ensure dog and handler pass Dog Team Assessment.
* Commit to one morning per week, every week of term, for the duration of the year.
Qualifications
* Ability to commit to regular weekly volunteering.
* Willingness to complete Dog Team Assessment (or have completed).
* Interest in supporting children\'s reading development.
