Position Vacant: Commercial Landscaping Maintenance Person (Canberra, ACT)
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Commercial Gardening Maintenance Person to join our team, servicing schools and other public areas environments across Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
This role involves undertaking commercial general landscaping and garden maintenance mainly duties within schools and public service settings. The successful applicant will play a vital part in maintaining safe, attractive, and well-kept outdoor areas that support positive learning environments for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Regular lawn mowing, edging, and garden bed maintenance
* Pruning trees and shrubs, weed control, and green waste removal
* Operating and maintaining gardening equipment and tools
* Ensuring all work areas are left clean, safe, and presentable
* Identifying and reporting any hazards or required repairs
* Working respectfully and professionally within school grounds
Essential Criteria:
* Proven experience in commercial gardening, landscaping, or groundskeeping
* Minimum 2 years' proven experience in commercial gardening, landscaping, or groundskeeping
* Experienced in using ride on lawn mowers and Landscaping motorised and non motorised equipment
* High standard of personal integrity and reliability
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong commitment to safety and professionalism
* Current Police Check
* Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT)
* Valid driver's license
* Current White Card (Construction Induction Card)
* Physical capability to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions
Desirable:
* Certificate in Horticulture (preferred) or related qualifications
* Experience working within school or childcare environments
* Familiarity with eco-friendly and sustainable gardening practices
