Intentionally designed as a Finance Manager runway. At Rarekind, finance isn't tucked away in a back corner of the business. It's right in the middle of the action. This role is designed for someone who's ready to step out of "just accountant" mode and start building the muscle of a future Finance Manager. You'll have real responsibility, not a fancy title with no substance. You'll be trusted with outcomes. With judgement. With making things better. Not just ticking boxes. You'll get genuine development, not vague promises. Our CFO will mentor you directly, with a clear 18–24 month pathway into a Finance Manager role. This is a proper "we're investing in you" setup. Not sink-or-swim. You'll have flexibility that works with real life. Hybrid work arrangements are totally cool with us! There are no rigid rules – you might want flexibility to WFH most of the week, or for school hours if needed. And we're happy if you live in any one of our regions where we have an office – Newcastle, Central Coast, Western Sydney or even Brisbane could work. You'll be part of a business that actually connects finance to people. You'll work closely with leaders across the business, be the go-to for finance and payroll questions, and see the direct impact of your work on how the company operates. And you'll be joining a values-led, people-first organisation that cares about how work feels, not just what gets delivered.
The Role
This is a hands-on finance role with increasing leadership scope. You'll still be in the detail – owning month-end, reconciliations, payroll oversight, reporting, compliance and problem-solving – but you'll also start taking responsibility for how the function runs. You'll own the higher-judgement finance work, be the go-to for payroll and finance questions, and step in when things get complex or time-critical. You'll review and lift the quality of work across the team, while steadily improving the way finance runs day to day.
You
You've got around 3–4 years' experience in commercial finance or public practice. And you're ready to stretch. You're someone who:
* Can run month-end, reconciliations and payroll with confidence
* Is comfortable being accountable for outcomes
* Builds trust easily with stakeholders
* Cares about doing finance in a way that actually helps the business
Xero experience is ideal. Formal qualifications are great, but how you've built your career matters more to us than what's written on your certificate. Experience aside, you've got strong learning velocity, a hunger for more responsibility, solid judgement and a genuine appetite to grow into leadership.
The Pathway
Over the next 18–24 months, you'll progressively:
* Expand into analytics, reporting and working capital
* Build leadership capability across the finance function
* Partner more closely with senior leaders
* Develop the judgement to run finance end-to-end
The long-term goal?
A step into the Finance Manager role, working alongside our CEO and leadership team to shape how Rarekind grows.
