About the Role
This senior director position plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of surgical training and equitable healthcare delivery across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading complex research programs and teams, with expertise in accreditation, quality assurance, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving RACS' strategic research agenda, overseeing key programs such as FATES and the Specialist Training Program (STP), and ensuring compliance with AMC accreditation standards. Additionally, they will lead the design and implementation of a robust monitoring and evaluation framework, oversee hospital training post accreditation aligned with AMC standards, guide research projects that advance surgical education and healthcare equity, disseminate research outcomes across academic and professional platforms, and foster a high-performance team culture and stakeholder collaboration.
About You
To thrive in this role, you will bring: • A PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in research, with extensive experience in healthcare or education research and evaluation. • Proven leadership of complex research programs and teams. • Strong experience in accreditation, quality assurance, and M&E frameworks. • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • A track record in securing funding and working with government and academic partners. • Experience in medical education or health membership organizations is highly regarded.
