Community Therapy Assistant Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Community Therapy Assistant to work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver therapy programs in various community settings, promoting independence, motivation, and confidence among individuals with varied disabilities and complex needs.
About the Job
* The successful applicant will have experience working independently in a community role and will be confident in their ability to build rapport with clients and families.
* A strong understanding of therapeutic techniques, including implementing OT-designed therapy programs, is essential for this position.
* The Community Therapy Assistant will also be responsible for documenting session notes and communicating progress to the supervising OT.
* Professional development and ongoing support will be provided to ensure the individual meets the challenges and opportunities of the role.
Key Responsibilities
* Implementing therapy programs designed by the Occupational Therapist, focusing on daily living skills, social skills, and sensory strategies.
* Supporting individuals with complex needs, providing practical assistance and guidance as required.
* Leading sessions such as cooking, hygiene routines, shopping, motor skills, organisation, and community access.
* Accurately documenting session notes and maintaining open communication with the supervising OT.
* Encouraging independence, motivation, and confidence among participants through a supportive and inclusive approach.
