The services required will enable the agency to supplement its existing ICT and digital workforce to ensure a high quality of technology and digital development for the Buyer with the flexibility to ramp resourcing up and down as needs require.Services Australia is seeking at least one Infrastructure Engineer to implement, manage, and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking, and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The agency is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior OpenShift Administrator who can navigate the monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters, particularly within the context of government services.The ideal candidate will provide technical support, troubleshoot problems, and automate solutions to ensure stable and efficient operation of OpenShift environments, with a proven ability to lead cloud projects, mentor junior staff, and integrate seamlessly into a complex, dynamic team environment. The key duties and responsibilities will be to:Design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.Assist developers in automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications using OpenShift, utilizing our GitOps platform and CI/CD pipelines for efficient service delivery.Oversee cluster management (including in-place cluster upgrades), resource allocation, configuration management, and capacity planning within Red Hat OpenShift environments, ensuring optimal performance and responsible resource utilization.Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Helm to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.Ensure the security of OpenShift environments by implementing best practices, including vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and role-based access control.Lead technical teams in the execution of OpenShift projects, mentoring junior engineers and managing project timelines and deliverables.Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and business stakeholders, to ensure smooth operations and alignment with business goals.Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, processes, and best practices, and actively share knowledge with the team.On-call duties may be required in extenuating circumstances; however, this is not the default expectation.Occasional/infrequent out-of-hours support may be required for maintenance or supporting activities.Essential CriteriaBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field highly desirable, or demonstrated continuous professional experience of at least 5+ years in a large-scale ICT environment, and additionally 3+ years in a large-scale Kubernetes environment is a suitable alternative.Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in system administering, including experience in OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster administration. Extensive experience in Kubernetes administration, including networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting within containerized environments. Experience in a government or highly regulated environment, with demonstrated compliance to standards such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential 8.Mandatory: Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or equivalent certification, or a willingness to obtain these certifications within the first 3-6 months of employment.Desirable CriteriaHighly desirable: Certifications in Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or a willingness to obtain these certifications within the first 3-6 months of employment.Experience and knowledge across a breadth of ICT technologies or methodologies is highly desirable, including: Kubernetes, Ansible, Helm, Python & Bash, CI/CD Pipelines, Git, and Linux.HOW TO APPLYPlease update your CV to highlight your previous work experience to demonstrate your suitability for this role.
